Monthly Import Demand/Requirement

Sri Lanka depends heavily on imports to meet the local demand. Here are the monthly requirements of the major commodities. These numbers are mostly correct but some months the numbers vary depending on the local produces.

Import Duties

Here are the import duties for some of the food commodities as of November 01, 2017. Most of the times the import duties are increased to protect the local produce during the their season. Once the local season is over, the duties are reduced to keep the commodity prices low. For the latest duty updates please check Sri Lanka Customs web site.
